SenseUS™ polls predicted the downturn in the economy months in advance

GAINESVILLE, FL. – The sudden downturn of the American economy and the current recession was predicted far in advance in polling done by SenseUS™ using the ADSAM® system, which accurately measures emotional reaction. Investors who were aware of this polling data reported that they were able to save a major portion of their portfolio.

Because of the accuracy of the SenseUs™ polling, investors would be wise to listen to the outcomes of future surveys. ADSAM® is currently planning an expanded follow-up version of the SenseUs™ emotional response survey, and this will utilize ADSAM’s® measurement technology to gauge the American publics’ feelings about the current state of the economy, major businesses, brands, and investment opportunities.

The results of previous SenseUS™ polls found that in the beginning of 2007, approximately 50 percent of the American population was emotionally disheartened and disturbed about the foundation of the US economy. By October 2008, five emotional response surveys later, 80 percent of the American population was terrified about the current position of the economy and feared recession.

The surveys also accurately predicted the outcome of the presidential race far earlier than more traditional polls. The final SenseUs poll before the election showed Obama producing almost identical feelings to those exhibited about him in September 2007.

SenseUs™ is an emotional tracking survey that measures respondents’ emotional reactions to issues, product services and much more. In the latest SenseUs Poll, 51 percent of the American public felt excited or hopeful about the economy under the possibility of the Obama administration. The next poll will focus on the economy and reactions to its drivers.

These polls are conducted by SenseUs™ and ADSAM®, the leading proponent of emotional response surveys, used worldwide in market research and human resources. This is a new approach to evaluating politics and key issues with the assessment of both rational and emotional thought processes.

This type of polling dives deep into a person’s emotions by interpreting the underlying factors such as their attitudes, preferences and behavior. This allows the company to gauge the full and truthful response of the participants with the interpretation of emotional predictors to scale their response.

ADSAM® has been used and incorporated by major Fortune 500 companies around the globe, that are seeking to understand their target audience’s emotional responses.

“Feelings are overlooked in many research plans, which is unfortunate since emotions are the precursor to action,” said Jon Morris, PhD, president of ADSAM® and communications professor at the University of Florida.

ADSAM® helps its clients to better understand the impact of emotions. ADSAM®‘s research system includes measurement, analysis, consultation, written reports, and recommendations.
